Wait Staff must exhibit a cheerful, gracious and helpful manner to all guests at all times.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Ø Assumes responsibility for cleaning designated areas, in accordance with prescribed procedures, morning/evening routines and hygiene requirements. Ø Assumes responsibility for cleaning and refilling cruet and condiment sets, refreshing tables with appropriate items as needed. Ø Ensures that sideboards on stations are adequately stocked with replacement cutlery, linen or other established needs, be they food or equipment. Ø Takes orders from guests with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring that these are given to the appropriate person to execute. Ø Demonstrates familiarity with the composition of all menu items. Ø Serves food and beverages in accordance with prescribed standards and with professionalism and courtesy. Ø Checks for proper identification of guests (when appropriate) prior to serving alcoholic beverages to ensure that they meet the age requirement for the purchase of such. Ø Maintains a professional and polite manner in refusing to serve alcoholic beverages to guests who are not of legal age. Ø Observes the basic tenets for the responsible service of alcohol, monitoring guest's consumption and taking appropriate action per hotel guidelines. Ø Cleans tables and ensures they are cleaned as soon as it is apparent that guests have finished their food or drink with an acceptable balance between speed, yet allowing guests to finish their meal without feeling rushed. Ø Ensures that guests are correctly charged, presented with the bill and payment taken from the guest in accordance with the hotel's established procedures. Ø Assists other kitchen staff in maintaining dining area cleanliness and inviting atmosphere at all times. Ø  Assures that guests, team members and visitors are provided a safe and secure environment at all times. Ø  Adheres to the rules of operation established by the Hilton Corporation, consistently demonstrating a strong commitment to the high standards and expectations of the Bangor Hilton Garden Inn. Ø  Follows all applicable safety and security compliance regulations in accordance with Federal, State and local laws. Ø  Understands and follows all applicable OSHA regulations including MSDS practices and procedures. Ø  Interacts harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon the attainment of hotel goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork. Ø  Conforms to acceptable attendance/punctuality standards as expressed in the Employee Handbook. Self-direction, organization, motivation and attention to detail required. Prior successful experience as Wait Staff in a similar environment preferred. Computer literacy preferred. A minimum of one-two years of experience in a similar position preferred.       PHYSICAL DEMANDS/CONDITIONS/REQUIREMENTS   Work is performed in a hotel kitchen environment. Exposure to high temperatures, stoves, sharp objects and toxic/caustic cleaning agents is present. Full range of physical mobility including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, carrying, reaching, manual dexterity and light lifting (up to 50 pounds) required. Ability to multi-task is required.
