Custodian - Parks & Recreation

This position is accountable for grounds work throughout the County Parks, and special projects from time to time.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Note: The list below is not comprehensive; this job is also responsible for other duties as assigned.

1. Grounds Work This position is responsible for the mowing, trimming, mulching of the buildings and grounds throughout the County Parks. The incumbent must be able to operate large, complex mechanized hand tools and keep them in good working repair.

2. Special Projects This position is responsible for any special projects required to maintain the grounds and buildings at the parks. Most often, this involves moving furniture, painting, or deep cleaning. It may also involve repair and/or installation of fencing or other outside structures.

3. Supervising Inmates The incumbent is responsible for picking up, supervising, and dropping off at end of day an inmate.

One of the major challenges of this position is the size of the County and the number of parks to service. It can also be challenge accomplishing the grounds work with severe and/or inclement weather. REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND JOB-RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Level of Job-Related Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Minimum Amount of Job-Related Experience: 6 months
