ASRC Federal Communications is seeking an General Maintenance Worker for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Earackson Air Station.
The General Maintenance Worker is a rotational position working 3 month on and 1 month off schedule, located at Eareckson Air Station (EAS), Sheyma, AK. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. Transportation to EAS from Anchorage, AK is provided by government sponsored aircraft.
General Description Of Job: The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for the repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency/journeyman level trades licenses) in such trades as painting, carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, masonry, and/or electrical work. The incumbent assists various Journeyman level trades personnel and performs assigned work order and recurring maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
• Assists journeyman technicians in the performance of various tasks, as needed.
• Supplies workers with materials and tools; holds materials or tools; cleans work area, machines, and equipment.
• Replaces or repairs electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, lamps, and motors, as required.
• Replaces or repairs overhead door systems.
• Makes repairs to walls and ceilings using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks, including replacing or repairing ceiling tiles.
• Replaces or repairs sinks, water coolers, and/or toilets.
• Assists with corrosion control techniques for structures and equipment.
• Replaces or repairs damaged paneling, floor tiles, and carpet.
• Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
• Replaces or repairs doors, windows, and associated hardware.
• Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Removes snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking lots, using shovel and/or snow blower or other types of similar equipment; also applies ice melt and/or sand to those areas as required.
• Removes vegetation using walking or riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, and similar equipment.
• Replaces or repairs fences, gates, guardrails, culverts.
• Assists with asphalt repairs to runway, taxiways, and parking aprons.
• Assists with the painting of runway, taxiways, and parking aprons.
• Moves and arranges heavy pieces of office equipment and household furniture, equipment, and appliances as needed.
• Performs Emergency Response Team duties as needed.
• Performs related work as assigned.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions. The employee is regularly required to talk and hear to understand instructions, provide information, and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; taste or smell; and work on scaffolding and ladders. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance and lift and/or move heavier objects with assistance.
Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):
Mandatory
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in maintenance trades.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
• Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
Preferred
• Successful completion of safety training.
• Experience working from elevated platforms
