POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Substitute Custodian (Job #001-047-C)
LOCATION: Central Office Itinerant
EMPLOYMENT TERM: As Needed Basis (8 hour day)
SALARY: Salary based upon paygrade and experience on current salary schedule (State and County)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of all State required testing.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
FOR THE POSITION OF Substitute Custodian
REPORTS TO: School Building Principal
JOB GOAL: Maintains the school buildings and grounds in a clean, safe, and attractive manner to provide a suitable environment for students and faculty.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepares the building for daily use by unlocking doors, providing appropriate temperature and proper lighting.
- Cleans, sweeps, mops or buffs all areas of the building assigned.
- Cleans and sanitizes all plumbing fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
- Cleans classrooms spills on demand.
- Cleans carpet area with vacuum cleaner or scrubbing machine as appropriate.
- Removes all waste and trash from his/her area and prepares it for proper disposal daily.
- Washes windows and waxes floors on a regular basis.
- Cleans and maintains grounds for proper appearance and safety, including cutting grass and removing snow when necessary.
- Performs general maintenance around the building, including such tasks as changing light bulbs, making minor furniture and equipment repairs or adjustments, oiling motors, adjusting fan belts, etc.
- Insures the building is securely locked.
- Insures that unnecessary lights are off to conserve energy.
- Assists in ordering supplies and keeps records of custodial supplies.
- Raises and lowers the flag as directed.
- Checks buildings and grounds as directed by the principal during non-school hours, especially in case of emergencies, such as excessive rain, wind, etc.
- Reports to the building principal needed repairs that must be performed by the maintenance department or another firm.
- Maintains positive work habits.
- Performs duties efficiently and productively.
- Maintains and/or upgrades skills.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
