Description

The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long term care facility located in beautiful Hanson, Kentucky that is committed to serving Kentucky's Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity and providing compassionate care.

We are currently seeking Cook's to care for our Veterans. Join our team if you want to give back to those who have given so much for our Country.

Make a lasting impression on our Veterans assisting them by:

  • Performing general cooking duties
  • Mixes and cooks specialty dishes and delicate foods
  • Maintains records of food used and supply on hand
  • Maintains dietary work areas, equipment and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition
  • Insures proper storage of food

This position offers 15% on top of base pay for all hours worked on second and third shifts and 25% on top of base pay for all hours worked on a holiday or weekend.

This agency is prohibited from hiring employees with convictions identified in 906 KAR 1:190. A fingerprint- supported national background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment.

This position, in Hopkins county has an approved Locality Premium of $4.88 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: NONE

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of cooking experience in an institutional or large scale commercial setting.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Vocational training in food service will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
