Camp Cook

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Camp Cook to join our team!

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
As a Camp Cook you will assist in all camp food services for camp staff and guests. You will work alongside the full-time kitchen team to help with food prep, lunch packing, dishwashing and maintaining overall cleanliness of the kitchen. This is a crucial role in providing delicious and healthy camp meals in a highly organized manner.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting in preparing all meals.
• Serving all meals, desserts, and putting away all leftovers.
• Preparing food for the next shift.
• Maintain upkeep of assigned area and equipment.
• Interior cleaning including, but not limited to, cleaning all areas of the kitchen, cleaning all dishes, sweeping and mopping, and laundry every night.
• Assign cleaning projects to kitchen aids. Direct the kitchen aids in assisting in food preparation, service, and cleaning as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Experience in food preparation (preferred).
• Food handler's certificate (preferred).
• Willingness and ability to adjust to camp resources, conditions and programs.
• Knowledge of safe practice and procedures for required tasks.
• Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
• Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
• Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Wage: $18.00 to $20.00 per hour, depending on qualifications
Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week
Location: YMCA Camp Seymour, Gig Harbor, WA
