Santiam Jr./Sr. High School Night Custodian

Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of custodial duties and general care of school building(s) and surrounding grounds to ensure a safe and clean school building for students, staff and community. Night shift during the school year; day shift during non-student days, holidays and summer. This position is eligible for health care benefits and PERS retirement.

1. Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policy(ies) and procedures.
2. Cleans areas as assigned (i.e. rooms, halls, offices, restrooms, cafeteria, etc.), vacuums, shampoos, sweeps, scrubs, waxes, polishes, mops and buffs all types of floor surfaces.
3. Washes windows, white boards, walls, doors and baseboards.
4. Cleans and polishes furniture, windows, metal work and computer screens.
5. Maintains indoor and outdoor lighting; changes light bulbs as necessary.
6. Adjusts clocks.
7. Washes, scrubs and disinfects restrooms and locker rooms as well as cleans sinks, fixtures, panels and drinking fountains daily.
8. Checks and stocks bathroom supplies.
9. Cleans up spills (including bodily fluids) in safe and appropriate manner, picks up trash and responds to special requests for custodial services from staff members with supervisor approval.
10. Sets up, takes down and moves tables, chairs, equipment, shelving and partitions for meetings, athletic events and other District needs as assigned.
11. Picks up paper and other debris, empties and cleans trash receptacles.
12. Waters plants, cleans planter boxes, and performs minor trimming and weeding.
13. Rearranges and moves furnishings, transports and delivers educational supplies.
14. Operates vacuums, floor machines, buffers and carpet cleaning equipment.
15. Reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards immediately to a supervisor.
16. Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
17. Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
18. Complies with applicable District, state, local and federal laws, rules and regulations.
19. Follows District procedure on opening and locking up the facilities.
20. Attends work regularly and is punctual.
