Custodian III

Multiple Positions Available

Are you someone with at least one (1) year of custodian or building maintenance experience? If so, we invite you to apply for the position of Custodian III with Chatham County Government.

As a Custodian III, you will

• Lead and instruct work crews in the care of County buildings by providing guidance and technical expertise.
• Provide training in the proper use of equipment and safety work procedures and techniques.
• Inspect and evaluate work progress.
• Monitor inventory levels of equipment, cleaning, materials, tools, and supplies.
• Sweep, mop, polish, and strip floors in rooms and halls.
• Dust and/or polish furniture, blinds, and equipment.
• Clean restrooms and fill dispensers.
• Vacuum, spot clean, and/or shampoo rugs, carpets, and furniture using commercial type vacuum cleaners and shampooing equipment.
• Initiate work orders on malfunctions of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures, and/or damages to offices and furnishings.
• Stock areas with appropriate supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• High School Diploma or GED, and
• At least one (1) year of custodian or building maintenance experience; or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 75 lbs.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
