    The SouthWest Metro Intermediate District #288 has a full-time opening for a mid-day Custodian (10:00am-6:30pm, Monday-Friday) .5 FTE at St. Boni Education Center in St. Bonifacius and .5 FTE at East Union Education Center in Carver, MN.

    Description:
    Mid-day, 8 hours a day, Year-Round (260 days)

    Pay & Benefits:
    The pay is $20.00-$24.00 per hour, based on experience. In addition, there is a Shift Differential rate of $2.00 per more per hour for working evening hours. A competitive and comprehensive benefit package is also available:

    Job Summary:
    Incumbent is responsible for performing a full range of cleaning and custodial work in an assigned area. Incumbents must be in good physical condition to perform difficult tasks such as moving, carrying and storing heavy items; and the ability to withstand the physical demands necessary to clean, dust, and wipe rooms and large furniture, as well as floors and carpets; washing walls and equipment with the help of ladders when needed. The incumbent is accountable for the completion of assigned duties with a minimum level of supervision. The incumbent interacts positively with staff members and students.

    • Responsible for the repair, maintenance, and custodial work of the assigned facilities, such as:
    • Monitoring, maintaining, and repairing boiler and other facilities equipment as required;
    • Estimating costs of repairs; determines supplies and equipment necessary to maintain facilities;
    • Performing preventative maintenance on equipment and structures;
    • Clean, maintain, and set up facilities to ensure a safe and clean environment for the staff, faculty, and students.
    • Sweeps, dust mop, and wet mop hallways, floors, and stairs; mops, strips, seals, and waxes floors; operates industrial buffers and scrubbing machines; vacuums and shampoos carpet using powered cleaning equipment.
    • Cleans washroom walls, floors, tiles, and fixtures; replenishes washroom supplies including towels, soap, tissue, and sanitary napkins.
    • Carries large containers of trash and garbage to the disposal area; carries boxed supplies from the storeroom to other parts of the building.
    • Cleans debris and waste matter from clogged drains and toilets and check that toilets, urinals, faucets & drain are working properly
    • Washes walls and furniture with industrial wall-washing and furniture-washing machines.
    • Operates gasoline-powered snowblower and manual tools to remove snow and ice from sidewalks and other paved surfaces; spreads sand and salt; mows and trims grassy areas surrounding the building, using powered and manual mowing equipment.
    • Patch broken windows; repairs and/or replaces window shades.
    • Replaces light bulbs, fluorescent tubes, fuses and washers, and clean light fixtures,
    • Mop and disinfect floors; clean and disinfect sinks; mirrors; toilet bowls-seats, urinals, & pipes;
    • Empty wastebaskets and sanitary napkin receptacles
    • Clean doors and partitions and spot clean walls and ceiling; baseboards and radiators
    • Clean exterior of all dispensers (tissue, soap, etc.)

    Qualifications :

    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent;
    • Must possess a valid Specialists license or 2nd class C low-pressure Boilers License required at the start or able to obtain within the 90 DAY probationary period to continue employment
    • General cleaning knowledge and ability to safely work with chemicals;
    • Knowledge of proper lifting technique;
    • Knowledge of operation of equipment that is required in the performance of the job;
    • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions;
    • Ability to inter-relate with others and present a positive interaction with public, peers and administration in all communications;
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
    • Ability to exercise confidentiality in handling district information;
    • Ability to read, write and to follow simple oral and written instructions;
    • Ability to endure sustained periods of physical activity;
    • Ability to perform work requiring continuous standing and frequent walking;
    • Ability to climb stairs frequently and ladders occasionally;
    • Ability to occasionally balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl;
    • Ability to frequently perform fine hand motion skills and grasp objects and to perform repetitive arm motions.
    • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with staff, business associates, and the general community;

    • Ability to use computer systems to utilize district communication such as email services using Gmail
