Overview

The Renaissance Times Square is seeking charismatic and skilled Bartenders to join the opening team of our exclusive new bar concept-a space so fresh, its name hasn't even been released. Located in the heart of New York City, this elevated and design-forward bar is part of our newly renovated food and beverage outlets and will be a destination for locals and travelers alike.

As a Bartender, you'll be a key player in creating a vibrant and memorable guest experience, crafting both classic and innovative cocktails with precision and personality. You'll bring energy, creativity, and professionalism to the bar while contributing to the buzz of one of Times Square's most anticipated openings. The compensation for this position ranges from $31.41-$41.88 based on experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis. This includes requisitioning and stocking of all beer, wine, spirits, paper products, straws and stirrers, condiments and produce based on projections from the daily functions sheet.

  • Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices, and other perishables daily to ensure product quality.

  • Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks. Mixes, garnishes, and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control.

  • Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.

  • Inputs orders into a register at the point of sale and creates a check for each guest, including those served by other beverage servers, to maintain accountability of all beverages served.

  • Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers are properly executed, in order to balance all money.

  • Locks and stores all beverage, food and other equipment items, deposits cash drops and secures bank.

  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Hotel experience preferred.

  • Must communicate well with guests.

  • Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages.

  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes.

  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands in order to use a knife to make garnish, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks, and reach overhead to retrieve stock with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers, and patrons.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in high-volume, upscale bar environments

  • Deep knowledge of spirits, wine, and current beverage trends

  • Passionate about upselling and driving check averages

  • Ability to remain poised, well-groomed, and professional at all times

  • Confident, charismatic, and proactive with guests

  • Proven ability to build regular clientele through service and personality

Compensation

Salary Range: $31.41 - $41.88 Hourly
