This is limited semi-skilled manual work in cleaning and litter pick-up on the exterior of facilities as well as various cleaning tasks on the interior such as mopping, scrubbing, waxing floors, cleaning carpets, pressure washing, cleaning restrooms, and replenishing supplies, moving furniture, performing minor repairs, and other related tasks on the interior and exterior of municipal buildings and facilities. Work requires skill in the use of standard hand tools, the operation of gas and electric power tools including leaf blowers, pressure washers and various types of floor machines. This position requires routine overtime shifts on nights and weekends.
Salary: $16.55 - $22.92 Hourly DOQ
The hiring department will consider applicants for the Maintenance Worker I or II level, depending on qualifications and experience. The entry level pay for Maintenance Worker II is $17.04 Hourly.

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess and continue to maintain a valid Driver License.
- Have considerable experience performing building and property maintenance.
- Be able to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Be able to plan and organize routine work details.
- Be able and willing to work routine overtime shifts both nights and weekends.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Have considerable knowledge and experience performing building and property maintenance on City properties in the downtown area including the Municipal Services Center and City Hall.
- Have a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Have experience operating gas and electric power tools and equipment.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of employment, or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
