Mercadito is currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Bartender to join our team.

Opened in 2010, Mercadito made a splash in Chicagos River North neighborhood at 108 W. Kinzie St. with a vision to deliver elevated, authentic Mexican cuisine alongside expertly crafted tequila and mezcal cocktails.

Voted as one of the top Mexican restaurants in Chicago, Mercadito is known for its vibrant flavors, seasonal guacamoles, and fresh, made-from-scratch ingredients including our handmade tortillas and signature salsas. Our bar plays a central role in creating memorable guest experiences, offering festive cocktails and craft-forward beverage selections that pair perfectly with our shareable plates.

With a lively lounge, street-side patio, and open-air garage doors that bring the outside in, Mercadito offers an engaging and dynamic atmosphere for both guests and team members alike.

• Prepare and serve cocktails and other beverages to guests according to house recipes and specifications

• Provide welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable service from behind the bar and at cocktail stations

• Guide guests through the drink menu and offer pairing suggestions with food

• Ensure guest allergies or dietary restrictions are communicated and accommodated appropriately

• Restock the bar with liquor, wine, beer, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and supplies

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation standards behind the bar

• Operate all bar equipment safely, including shakers, blenders, and knives

• Accurately enter orders into the POS system and handle cash and card transactions

• Recognize signs of intoxication and take appropriate action in accordance with training and policy

• Maintain knowledge of seasonal cocktails, house specialties, and rotating promotions

• Be available to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays

• Create a memorable guest experience with excellent hospitality and consistent execution

• Engage with guests in a professional and upbeat manner, making them feel welcome and taken care of

• Deliver timely, accurate, and well-presented beverages under pressure

• Monitor bar inventory, minimize waste, and report any issues or shortages to management

• Wash and sanitize glassware manually when necessary

• Maintain accountability for all bar cash, comps, and receipts during your shift

• Work collaboratively with FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service

• Comply with all city and state liquor laws, safety regulations, and internal policies

• Successfully complete alcohol awareness training and maintain certification

• Follow all policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook

• Support team members and contribute to a positive work culture
