Conservation Crew Member Summer Youth Camping Crew (WA)

Position Details:

Northwest Youth Corps is seeking young people ages 16-18 interested in camping outdoors, living as a community, and making a positive impact on the earth.

Crew members camp in tents for five weeks, traveling to 2-4 different places across the mountains and forests of the Pacific Northwest. Experienced field staff provide training and education on conservation projects such as tree planting, fuels reduction, invasive plant removal, trail construction, and fencing. You join a close-knit team of 8-9 crew members and two crew leaders, committed to play a vital role in improving our public lands and the environment.

This is tough work. We work in all weather and our projects are hands-on. We value community, connection with others, and mutual support. All training is provided, and you do not need prior experience to apply. If you haven't had access to the outdoors but are interested in learning, come join us; this land is your land.

Dates : Session One: June 21- July 26, 2025

Session Two: August 2- August 30, 2025

Location: Crews start and end in Lake Wenatchee, WA. They camp together in remote locations the entire time, and you do not need to be from the Pacific Northwest to join. Project locations generally include national forests, parks, and public lands.

Benefits/Tuition:

  • $450 weekly stipend (plus potential bonuses), paid to you at the end of the session
  • Potential dependability and safety bonuses
  • $460/ week (bonuses included)
  • $240 tuition cost for 4 week session; 300 tuition cost for 5 week session , paid to us; significant financial aid available based on need
  • Deduction of $70/ week for cost of food
  • Camping, safety gear and uniforms provided
  • Up to 2 high school credits with school approval
  • All training provided

Q ualifications:

  • Age 16-18 at the start date
  • US citizenship or permanent residency (green card)
  • Positive mental attitude, willingness to learn, and a team player
  • Desire to conserve natural spaces and make an impact on the environment
  • While no experience with these is required, you should be physically and mentally prepared to:
  • Hike several miles and be on foot for 8 hours per day
  • Camp in tents for four or five weeks continuously without modern conveniences (phones, electronics, etc)
  • Work and live in a very close-knit team environment
  • Follow safety protocols
