The Sales and Catering Department operates our full service, onsite Conference facility. A Houseperson is responsible for the physical set-up and break down of all conference meetings and large events. This is not a serving position. The ideal candidate has the passion and desire to work in the hospitality industry. Candidate must be in good physical condition as the position will require a large amount of heavy lifting. Open availability is a must.

Responsibilities:
  • Setting up meeting rooms and private function areas with the appropriate equipment and materials, including, but not limited to, tables, chairs, glasses, water, pens, writing tablets and any other items requested.
  • Assemble and arrange banquet equipment by applying a common sense understanding to carry out both written and oral detailed event requirements.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to all customer requests and involve a manager when necessary.
  • Disassemble conference rooms at appropriate break down times requiring bending and lifting up to 70 pounds. banquet tables onto 4-wheel carts and lifting banquet chairs in stacks of 6 to 10-foot height.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift a variety of banquet tables and other equipment weighing up to 100 pounds; put risers into place each weighing 150 pounds; move chairs of various weights and styles.
  • Walking and pushing large equipment carts.
  • Move 100-pound stacks of 10 chairs to a storage area 250 feet from function room.
  • Work in both inside and outside environments.
  • Inspecting banquet equipment for defects, cleanliness and any other maintenance needed and reporting to the manager.
  • Must be able to work weekends and late nights as required by business.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to lift up to 80 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to move 60" round table.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and move for about the entire shift.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and late nights.
  • Food Handler Certification or Food Sanitation License for the state of Illinois (or willingness to obtain)
