SUMMARY Prepares and cooks food for patients, cafeteria and special events as assigned, according to standardized recipes and safe food handling practices. Operates cash register. Performs dishwashing and housekeeping duties in the Dietary Department, as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

Prepares and cooks food, bakery products and garnishes for patients, cafeteria and special events as assigned, according to standardized recipes and safe food handling practices. Utilizes kitchen equipment.

Follows written and verbal instructions.

Serves food in cafeteria as requested by customers.

Apportions and places food servings on plates and trays according to therapeutic diets and patient identification card.

Operates cash register. Collects and gives change to customers.

Washes dishes, equipment, utensils and cleans work and production area.

Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers.

Records amount and types of special food items served to patients.

Records all substitutions to menu on substitution log.

Records temperature log on food and coolers.

Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families, visitors, and co-workers.

Maintains themselves and their work area in a neat and clean manner.

Promotes and participates in teamwork and flexibility with other Dietary co-workers.

Comply with established hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations as they relate to:

Qualifications

Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

High school education or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure :.

State of Illinois Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification

Experience Requirements :

One year cooking experience
