Maintenance of the city-owned facilities landscape and utility infrastructure for the Public Works Department. Duties include performing manual labor, using a variety of hand tools, and operating light equipment and vehicles to accomplish assigned tasks. Work is performed cooperatively and in a manner that ensures individual, co-worker, and public safety. Other tasks as assigned.

- Uses a variety of hand tools and light equipment, such as a shovel, pick, walk-behind mower, weed trimmer, pruning equipment, backpack blower, and chainsaw.
- Performs assigned work to maintain planted landscapes, including hand weeding and spreading mulch.
- Works with City Crews maintaining a variety of City-owned infrastructure.
- Under direct supervision, performs general duties necessary to the repair, installation, and maintenance of the stormwater infrastructure and facilities. Work is often strenuous and repetitive.
- Operates trucks in driving to the work location, picking up and delivering materials and supplies, and collecting and removing debris from different locations.
- High School diploma or GED
- Preferred: six months of labor-related experience in similar, outside working conditions, or any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the job.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- All qualified applicants must pass a criminal background check.
- Must have a driving record free of serious or frequent violations. Qualified applicants will be required to provide a driving abstract prior to hire.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job.
Skills
- Skill in the use of mechanical hand tools of the laboring trade.

- Ability to sustain continuous physical effort including frequent bending, walking, manipulation and lifting of heavy departmental equipment.
- Physical strength and ability sufficient to meet the job requirements for extended periods under uncomfortable conditions in all types of weather. May involve lifting up to 80 lbs. and hard manual labor.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance activities, processes, and duties preferred.
