Work Unit Overview: Responsible for enhancing, participating and supporting resident care with a focus on quality and safety. Assists with maintaining the facility physical plant and essential mechanical, electrical and resident care equipment in safe operating condition. Services provided are consistent with the Life Safety Code of the National Fire Protection Association and with all state and federal laws and regulations.

Job Summary: The maintenance aide is responsible for assisting the maintenance supervisor in maintaining the facility physical plant, essential mechanical, electrical and resident care equipment in safe operating condition to provide a safe, sanitary, comfortable and homelike environment.
- Assist the maintenance supervisor with conducting scheduled maintenance throughout the physical plant and for all equipment.
- Assists the maintenance supervisor to maintain the maintenance logs, assess essential equipment, record keeping of maintenance activities and identify any problems to maintain a safe, home like environment.
- Perform groundskeeping tasks such as lawn mowing and upkeep, snow removal, yard work, trash removal, light construction projects and basic upkeep of the physical plant.
- Assists the maintenance supervisor with facility inspections, maintaining and repairing basic function of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. Preform preventative maintenance tasks.
- Monitors workplace for safety and fire hazards. Assist maintenance supervisor in maintaining the facilitys emergency operations plan and helps to facilitate in preparing and performing fire drills in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Housekeeping and laundry functions as needed.

- Able to understand and to follow written and verbal directions. Able to effectively communicate with staff members and residents through verbal and/or written means.
- Demonstrates respect for co-workers and responds to needs of residents by complying with facility policies on attendance, punctuality and dress code. Able to arrive and to begin work on time and to report for duty as scheduled on all shifts, weekends and holidays.
- Working knowledge and ability to comply with facility policies and procedures for the workplace safety including infection control procedure, application of universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens, use of personal protective equipment and handling of hazardous materials.
