Reports to: Assistant Coordinator of Custodial Services
Principal working relationships: Assistant Coordinator of Custodial Services, Director of Facility Services, Assistant Coordinator of Maintenance Services, Assistant Coordinator of Building Maintenance, Vice President of Institutional Resources, Faculty, Staff, and Students
Major Responsibilities / Assists With / Risk Management
Primary responsibilities
The cleanliness and orderliness of floors, walls, ceilings, windows, furniture and any related equipment or fixtures in the facility.
The operation of equipment such as vacuum cleaners, scrubbers, buffers, brooms, mops, duster, and the other usual tools used in a cleaning maintenance operation.
The proper use of cleaning and sanitation chemicals and custodial supplies.
The removal of trash and emptying of recycling bins.
The movement of equipment and furniture as needed to accomplish good cleaning practices.
The set-up of the facility for special functions.
Must be readily available outside of regular work hours to respond to urgent issues within a facility.
Other duties as assigned.
Coordinate:
Supplies dispersal to location used.
Assist with:
Snow removal at doorways and entry sidewalks.
Application of "ice melt" at entry areas and sidewalks.
Movement of equipment and furniture.
Set up of equipment for special functions.
Stripping and waxing of floors and carpet extraction.
Departmental assessment and establishment of key performance indicators based on the strategic plan.
Risk-management and loss-prevention activities
Maintain a working knowledge of the college's emergency procedures and actively participate in the college risk-management program.
Monitor conditions, events and circumstances that present risk to the college community. Intervene and/or report as specified in the college's risk-management plan.
Minimum Necessary Skills, Experience, and Educational Background
Minimum necessary education, skills and experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Must successfully demonstrate, through work experience, the ability to accomplish this type of work.
Must demonstrate ability to read instructions on chemical use and dilution rates.
Valid driver's license.
The ability to communicate successfully with clients of all ages, socio-economic status, sex, or race.
Spanish or French proficiency preferred.

Capable of lifting 50 lbs.
Should be able to climb ladders
Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.
