Knox City-O'Brien CISD is a small, rural district in West Texas serving approximately 195 students from PK3 through 12th grade. We take great pride in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for our students, staff, and community. Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Maintenance/Custodian. This position plays a vital role in keeping our school buildings and grounds clean, safe, and operating smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a wide range of maintenance skills, strong attention to detail, and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed to support our district.
Responsibilities
Maintenance Duties:
Perform general maintenance and repair work on school buildings, equipment, and systems (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, etc.)
Assist with groundskeeping, including mowing, trimming, and landscaping
Perform preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled
Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner
Ensure tools and equipment are used safely and maintained properly
Custodial Duties:
Clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and other school facilities
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize daily
Collect and dispose of trash and recycling
Assist with setup and cleanup for school events
Report safety hazards and maintenance needs
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED preferred
Willing to obtain a CDL Bus Driving License
Experience in custodial and general maintenance work is strongly preferred
Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry is a plus
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work indoors and outdoors
Reliable, honest, and hardworking with a positive attitude
Must pass background check and fingerprinting as required by Texas law
