Job Description
Job Title: Medical Receptionist
Objective: Primary objective is to provide clerical support within the Department, or Clinic-wide when requested, adhere to all policies and procedures of Murfreesboro Medical Clinic and meet the needs of our patients in a teamwork approach.
Job Responsibilities
- To have a positive attitude and practice teamwork.
- Deliver excellent customer service to our patients.
- Be able to answer all patient questions.
- Help maintain cleanliness.
- Meet or exceed patient, doctor and staff expectations through a cooperative, teamwork approach.
- Greet patients in a polite, prompt and helpful manner.
- Manage flow of patients or other vendors/guests from point of check-in through check-out. Answer questions regarding patient appointments.
- Obtain demographic, insurance or other information from patient as required.
- Collect co-payments or other patient-responsible balances, issue receipts, prepare deposit and maintain cash drawer daily.
- Verify eligibility of all patients and enter accurately into Practice Management
- Answer billing questions and refile insurance claims as needed
- Avoid personal telephone calls and personal business during clinic operating hours.
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all OSHA guidelines.
- Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all MMC policies and procedures.
- Adhere to MMC attendance policy
Education & Experience High school diploma or GED required. Experience of one year in clerical role required.

- Ability to handle multiple tasks at one time, ability to be flexible.
- Ability to utilize computer systems for the purpose of completed assigned tasks.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Skills in communicating effectively with co-workers, doctors/providers and patients.
- Skill in effectively role modeling appropriate behavior.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with patients, doctors/providers, co-workers and vendors.
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments.
Environmental/ Working Conditions
Combination of office and clinical settings. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and potential exposure to bodily fluids.
Physical / Mental Demands
Varied activities including sitting, walking, bending, reaching, lifting and stooping. Ability to lift 35 pounds. Ability to stoop and bend. Stress from multiple responsibilities.
