  • &nbsp&nbsp JOB GOAL:
    The Lead Night Custodian is responsible for maintaining the general safety, appearance and upkeep of assigned school or department.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High School Diploma or GED required.
    2. Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    3. Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
    4. Bilingual preferred; at a minimum, the ability to understand and make ones self understood to all Spanish and English speaking individuals
    5. Ability to supervise employees effectively and solve personnel problems.
    6. Proficiency in the use of custodial equipment and cleaning chemicals.
    7. Ability to perform minor repairs and general light maintenance.
    8. Ability to instruct and assist employees in the correct procedures regarding general campus safety.
    9. Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with director, principal and other site staff.
    10. Ability to organize and plan ahead; must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    11. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees or vendors.
    12. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions.
    13. Must obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

    TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 261 Days; 12 Months
    COMPENSATION: Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position
    BENEFITS: As per QCUSD District policy
    REPORTS TO: Principal
    EVALUATION: Per District Policy
    HOURS: 40 hours per week - Monday-Friday 2:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
    CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-exempt

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Coordinate all duties relating to cleaning the school plant.
    2. Sets standards of cleanliness and responsibility. Ensures that safe work procedures are observed at all times.
    3. Direct and monitor work of custodians and provide training on an on-going basis.
    4. Clean classrooms, cafeterias, hallways, restrooms, offices, special area rooms and locker rooms.
    5. Operates cleaning equipment and machinery. Properly uses chemicals for maintenance and cleaning.
    6. Inspects reports of safety hazards, malfunctions, vandalism and damages to buildings or equipment. Follows up on sanitation report deviations.
    7. Performs minor repair and light maintenance work.
    8. Notifies principal concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment or contacts Building Operations Supervisor for extensive repairs.
    9. Maintains accurate records and inventory of custodial supplies and equipment. Assists with ordering supplies and equipment.
    10. Ensures proper procedures in handling and disposing of hazardous materials; including appropriate documentation.
    11. Checks to make all doors are locked and secure.
    12. Reports any unusual activity immediately to appropriate authorities.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Supervises 4 to 12 evening custodians in school or department
    2. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with District policy and applicable laws
    3. Participating in interviewing, hiring and training employees
    4. Planning, assigning and directing work
    5. Appraising performance
    6. Addressing complaints and resolving problems

The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds. The employee frequently is required to move about the District or campus. The employee is occasionally required to sit.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
