Less than a high school diploma with the ability to read and write. Minimum of six months related experience. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs custodial and routine maintenance duties, in various areas of the University.
Primary Responsibilities
Works in conjunction with Custodial Leads, Custodial Assistant Supervisors and Custodial Supervisor to maintain custodial supply inventories across campus. Reviews inventories of custodial closets and orders supplies as needed to maintain stocked custodial closets. Supply orders will be completed through a computer system. Receives supplies, assures item quality and places them into inventory. Picks supplies up from vendors or campus warehouse and delivers then stocks supplies into custodial closets across campus.
May complete custodian task such as: buffs and polishes floors, cleans carpet, wet mops and dust mops. Cleans restroom, vacuums carpets and rugs, collects and removes trash and rubbish. Dusts, polishes furniture, strips, and refinishes floors and performs all cleaning and related duties. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Manual lifting of heavy items required. Knowledge and experience using warehouse tools and moving equipment necessary. Requires the exercise of moderate judgement. Frequent contact with members of the Custodial Services department, campus warehouse staff and vendors is required. Requires alertness and attention to duties to avoid mistakes and injury. Accuracy in following written and oral instructions. May be exposed to outside weather and fifty percent exposure to one or more elements such as dust, dirt, fumes, and chemicals. Ability to maintain a good working relationship with other University employees and students.
Position requires driving and operating a university vehicle; therefore, a valid Texas driver license and driving record acceptable to the university's insurance carrier is required. Uniforms and identification badges are provided by the University according to departmental policy.
This position is Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
