Full Time and Part Time Laundry WorkerQuincyDescription**PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB POSITION**The primary purpose of your job position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or the Supervisor of Housekeeping and Laundry, to assure that our facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner, and that an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents.**DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY**As Laundry Worker, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.**JOB FUNCTIONS**Every effort has been made to make your job description as complete as possible. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or is a logical assignment to the position.**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**- Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical.- Perform day-to-day laundry functions as assigned.- Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.- Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established laundry procedures.- Collect and sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas.- Sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., and separate those items that require special stain removal/treatment.- Sort and wash soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc., in accordance with established procedures.- Press/iron garments as instructed.- Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., to residents daily, and/or as instructed.- Clean floors, to include sweeping, dusting, and damp/wet mopping. (Note: Assure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties and taken down when duties are completed).- Keep walls and ceilings clean by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, deodorizing, etc.- Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from equipment or floor surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.- Discard waste/trash into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.- During emergency conditions, assure that clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., are distributed to designated areas as instructed.- Report all incidents/accidents to your supervisor immediately, no matter how minor they may be.- Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.- Others that may become necessary, or as directed by your supervisor.Requirements: {bind="html: Job.Requirements"}**EDUCATION**Must possess, as a minimum, a high-school diploma or equivalent.**EXPERIENCE**- None required. On-the-job training provided.**SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS**- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.- Must be able to follow instructions.- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public.- Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of the laundry areas.- Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel, as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level they are currently functionin .- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices.- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, cleaning instructions, etc.**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.- Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents and other personnel.- Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.- Must be able to relate to, and work with, ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.- May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., a minimum of 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds, throughout the workday.:
