Type of Position: Full-Time
Hours: 40+/week: Hourly

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the mechanical function of the plant and plant equipment when the facility is in operation. He/ She responds to equipment problems with a focus on bringing the plant back to operational status as quickly and safely as possible. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing or replacing electrical equipment such as pumps, seals, gear boxes, chains, bearings, conveyors, augers etc. when they malfunction or break. The Maintenance Mechanic works closely with the Maintenance Manager to find solutions to plant breakdowns and should keep his/her manager informed of all issues related to the job function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will collaborate with the maintenance team to prioritize and coordinate work orders
Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
Ability to perform root cause analysis and diagnose equipment to identify malfunctions and opportunities for process improvements and recommendations to enhance equipment performance
Will use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
Maintain plant safety, housekeeping standards, and quality checks within the manufacturing environment, and keep the shop and all major maintenance areas neat and safe.
Follows lock out/Tag out practices and policy's
Assist Maintenance Manager with special projects
Works closely with production to report on machine break and estimate repair time.
Performs electrical troubleshooting and repair on various equipment and building maintenance.
Ability to safely operate forklift and lifts.
Other duties as assigned
WORK EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Shop Experience (welding, mig/tig sanitary, fabrication layout and design)
Strong general mechanical skills with the ability to troubleshoot.
Knowledge processing equipment and the entire process and flow of plant operations
Knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repair
Knowledge of boilers and their operation, ability to troubleshoot, operate and repair
Knowledge of water softeners, testing practices and their operation
Able to read and interpret blueprints
Previous experience with MVP a plus
Ability to successfully multitask in a fast-paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure proper communication with the plant and management personnel.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance mechanic/technician role in a manufacturing environment.
