Janitor/Custodian/Handy Person**Supervisor:**- Maintenance Supervisor**Department/Function:**- Operations**Positions/Persons Supervised:****None.** *(May supervise other janitors as assigned.)***Employee Classification: **- Non-exempt (Hourly) **Job Purpose:**- To support and contribute to the mission, goals and objectives of the Boys & Girls Club at Bradfield Center (BGCBC)- Responsible for performing janitorial duties for Boys and Girls Club at Bradfield Center (BGCBC) and related areas ensuring the facilities are clean and sanitary, and maintained in a safe and orderly fashion- To model the core values of honesty, respect and responsibility- This is accomplished through the effective performance of this job description with or without reasonable accommodations and with special attention to the application of the Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities **Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:**- Maintain a safe environment at all times for all personnel- Perform safety related inspections and activities such as removing snow, salting walkways, removing debris from walkways, cleaning up spills, clearing clutter to prevent falls, reporting potential or actual safety hazards in a timely manner, etc- Ensure all chemicals, cleansers, etc. are properly labeled and stored, and used according to safety instructions- Follow the instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed- Always Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment- Vacuum, sweep and mop floors and stairs. Maintain non-slip floors and stairs- Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets as needed- Clean and sanitize bathrooms using established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)- Clean and sanitize sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms- Clean windowsills and windows. Clean accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds- Dust and clean office desks and furniture that are not cluttered- Thoroughly vacuum offices at least weekly- Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary- Assist with the setup and break down of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc- Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed- Maintain janitor closets, storage and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe manner- Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas- Ensure all janitorial equipment and tools are properly maintained, repaired and serviced as needed- Take training as required in safety, chemical safety, cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, AED and CPR as needed- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high pressure washers, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc- Launder cleaning rags and dust mops- Proper labeling, dilution, and use of all chemicals- Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments- Attend to emergencies when necessary- NO INTERACTION WITH CHILDREN AT ANY TIME **Handy Person Duties:**Perform minor repairs or installations to walls, floors, ceiling, windows, plumbing, electrical and other structural and functional components of the facilityApply paint or otherwise upgrade and improve the look and function of the facility as neededGeneral mai
