Laundry Attendant

HOURS: PART TIME POSITION(S); MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK ALL DAYS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.
WAGE: $ 14.00 / HOUR
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Power up laundry equipment.
Sort and divide linen to be processed into machines by type and weight.
Prioritize linen needs using the lead's decision for required linen for the day.
Fill washers and dryers to allotted capacity with sorted linens.
Empty washers and dryers and move linen to iron processing and/or folding stations.
Iron and fold all linen to set procedures.
Shelf all completed linens in proper areas and deliver to needed locations such as pool area.
Maintain laundry equipment throughout the day; wax ironer, clean vital mechanisms on ironer, clean lint traps in dryers after each use, and clean lint trap of wastewater receptacle.
Rotate use of shelved linen to ensure even use and distribution.
Sort, dispose and/or pre-treat stained, and/or biohazard linens following set guidelines to ensure safety is met, before running through overnight/reclaim cycles.
Collect dirty towels from pool and fitness areas.
Inform lead of needed supplies.
Notify lead of equipment repairs as needed.
Maintain the upkeep and appearance of laundry room: Keep work areas clean, orderly and safe.
Report all accidents, injuries, illness, chemical spills, damage and repairs.
A.M. cleaning and garbage removal of the mezzanine room.
End of shift - removal of laundry room garbage and recyclables to proper receptacle.
Shutdown of all equipment and secure the laundry facility at shifts' end.
Report all items found in linens; tag with description and date.
Separate and log reject linen inventory.
Collect linen throughout hotel as needed.
Receive supplies and store in proper areas.
Assist in weekly/monthly inventory of linen and chemical supplies.
Reload chemicals for wash machines as used.
General quarterly spring-cleaning of laundry area.
Monthly cleaning of back area access of dryers to ensure fire safety code is met.
Assist housekeeping department as needed.
Promote the concept of good communication and work as a positive member of a TEAM.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Previous laundry experience preferred, but training will be provided.
Knowledge: Knowledge of commercial laundry equipment preferred.
Skills and Abilities: Must be able to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment. Must be able to work under pressure and be self-motivated with good public relation skills with the ability to accept constructive feedback. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including days, hours and holidays and work overtime as needed.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Large scale commercial wash machines, dryers, ironer and folding machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
During an 8-hour shift, this employee will have the following demands placed upon them:
Must be able to stand/walk 7 hours out of an 8-hour shift.
Sit up to 1 hour in an 8-hour shift.
Lift and carry up to 40-50 lbs with assistance frequently during an 8-hour shift.
Lift and carry up to 60 lbs with assistance occasionally during and 8-hour shift.
Must be able to push a fully loaded laundry bin from washer to dryer and dryer to ironer without assistance frequently during an 8-hour shift.
Must be able to use hands for simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation for up to 7 hours out of an 8-hour shift.
Must be able to wear non-latex gloves.
Must be able to work in a high heat environment.
Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, reach, twist, and rotate continuously throughout an 8-hour shift.
Must be able to follow strict safety standards while operating equipment, while working at a fast pace.
Must be able to work around chemicals based with the following: acid, ammonia, hydroxide, alcohol, chlorine and bleach.
Depending on daily activities, all requirements during an 8-hour shift may be higher or lower than what is listed above.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
High/low temperature fluctuations.
Exposure to toxic and hazardous chemicals and fumes.
Exposure to random biohazard materials.
Exposure to extreme high levels of machinery noise.
Must be observant at all times of safety hazards and equipment.
Must be able to work one-on-one with fellow workers in seclusion for most of the shift.
Must be able to handle frequent interruptions throughout the shift.

Completed employment application and/or In-house Transfer Form and resume, if desired, rating of education and experience; oral interview, reference check, background investigation; job related tests may be required.
