Building Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Building Maintenance Engineer to join our team. This role involves performing a wide range of skilled tasks to maintain, operate, troubleshoot and repair building systems and manufacturing line equipment. A strong understanding of HVAC systems is essential. This is a union position - International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE Local 158S)

Location: Webster, NY 14580

Type of Employment: Full-time w/JLL + IUOE Local 158S benefits

Schedule: On-site, Monday-Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM OR 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Compensation: $35.89 an hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute reactive and preventive maintenance on building and manufacturing systems
  • Maintain and repair various facilities components, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Support facilities projects and installations
  • Operate and maintain critical systems such as emergency generators, UPS, and fire/life safety equipment
  • Perform maintenance on specialized equipment including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and air compressors
  • Troubleshoot complex building management systems using DDC and pneumatics
  • Implement energy and water conservation measures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant state, county, and city regulations
  • Provide after-hours support and emergency response as needed
  • Utilize CMMS software for work order management and reporting
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external clients
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Trade school certification, vocational training, or relevant licenses preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related field
  • Strong technical aptitude with core competency in one or more trades
  • Proficiency in operating building management systems and CMMS software
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and skill enhancement
  • IUOE Local 158S union member or interest in obtaining membership
