Test Baker ( Jr. Dough Technologist )

Rademaker USA. is the North American supplier of bakery solutions and a subsidiary of Rademaker BV, a Netherlands based worldwide leader in the manufacture of industrial food processing equipment, primarily for the baking industry. Our facility in Elk Grove Village, Illinois houses our engineering and project support for Rademaker Systems Integration and our Rademaker USA Customer Experience Center for the U.S. and Canadian markets. 

Description of Position: 

This position is based out of our Rademaker Experience Center (REC) in Elk Grove Village, IL reporting directly to the Dough Technologist and indirectly to the Operations Manager and involves assisting with customer dough trials, equipment/product demonstrations, and operator training. Candidates are also responsible for supporting the North American market with technological bakery support of Rademaker equipment. Specific requirements of this position are the knowledge of bakery products and how they are impacted by the relationship between formulation and process. Experience with laminated doughs, artisan breads, and retail baked goods is preferred. 

Some international travel, customer visits, and attendance at industry trade shows and other functions are an integral part of this position. 

Position Responsibilities: 

Rademaker Experience Center (REC) 

• Responsible for assisting with all activities that occur within this facility located in Elk Grove Village, IL. To include maintenance, organization, and cleanliness. 

• Coordination with other Dough Technologists to develop new recipes and product demonstrations showcasing Rademaker Equipment. 

• This facility is used for testing equipment and products to assist with technical sales, service items and customer inquiries. Also used for customer and Rademaker personnel training.  

Technology 

Assists the RSM and Service platforms of Rademaker USA from a technological perspective on new equipment sales and commissioning of new equipment along with support and on-going training of existing legacy systems.  Duties such as, but not limited to: 

• Commissioning of New Rademaker Equipment Deliveries. 

• Process training of client operators and personnel on Rademaker equipment 

• Providing technological assistance of existing Rademaker USA equipment deliveries. To include process troubleshooting and operator line training. 

• Assistance with possible new project and product developments; process and product validation trials – both on site and in the Rademaker Technology Center (RTC). 

• Reports planned actions and results in a timely manner according to the company rules and regulations in such a way that the management and involved colleagues are up-to-date with the requirements and status of projects. 

General 

• Follow procedures with a high level of quality and safety. 

• Work within process control components, such as HMIs 

• Maintain paperwork requirements such as service reports and timesheets. 

• Manage expenses. 

• Maintain customer relations, understand company service and equipment offerings, recognize customer needs and make recommendations to promote company revenue growth. 

• Support our proactive Service Agreement and Academy Training model. 

• Provide feedback to management for process improvements. 

Position Requirements: 

• Willingness to travel: 

• Travel during the first year for training is about 70-80% primarily at our corporate headquarters in the Netherlands but may also include some customer visits with a senior dough technologist. 

• Normal travel after the first year is about 50-60%. Majority of normal travel will be domestic, but occasional international travel will be required. Typical assignment ranging from one day to three weeks – some longer during training period.  

• At least an Associate degree or equivalent, preferably a technical bakery, food science degree, or culinary degree. 

• In depth knowledge of bakery formulation and processes. Or the capability to learn this with internal and/or external training. 

• Flexible with schedule and able to handle changes at a moment’s notice. 

• Strong organizational and self-managing skills. 

• Strong writing skills for reports, training presentations and other materials. 

• Customer directed and service friendly. 

• Ability to learn all aspects of Rademaker food processing equipment. 

• Must be able to work independently. 

•  Willingness to work in various conditions that may be hot, cold, noisy, dusty, etc… 

• Ability to lift 50-75+ pounds. 

• Able to climb stairs and ladders.
