Purpose of Position
Responsible for maintaining buildings and facilities of the park commission.

The immediate supervisor for this position is the Deputy Director

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Sweeps floors, vacuums carpets, mops floors, cleans kitchen areas, and sanitizes bathrooms
- Picks up paper and trash of buildings
- Empties garbage cans
- Waxes and polishes floors in the Activity Centers
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Operates vacuum cleaner and floor machine
- Assists other employees when equipment is needed for special events of the park commission
- Maintain good public relations with the community and other employees
- Work closely with all city departments on related jobs
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of general maintenance procedures in maintaining buildings and facilities
- Knowledge of cleaning materials, waxes, and all-purpose cleaners and materials
- Skill in operating vacuum cleaner and floor buffer
- Ability to follow instructions
- Work as a team member with other employees
- Handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Ability to get along with the public
Special Requirements
Graduation from a standard high school or GED equivalency recommended
Good physical condition
A valid driver's license

Floor machine, vacuum cleaner, power tools, etc.

Work Environment
The custodian works regular hours with some overtime work. Weekend work is required. 10% of this job is outdoors, and 90% is indoors and requires work done in all types of weather. The stress level is moderate.
