Job Title Environmental Services Technician

Job Description

Dining Services at Elizabethtown College is currently seeking (2) third shift Environmental Services Technicians.

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all hard-surface floors in kitchens, bathrooms, and locker rooms within Dining Services operations. The Environmental Services Technician will play a critical role in maintaining safe, sanitary, and welcoming facilities by following established cleaning protocols.

Job Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform daily sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and cleaning of all hard-surface floors in dining service areas.

Operate floor care equipment such as scrubbers and vacuums.

Clean and sanitize restrooms and locker rooms daily, ensuring supplies are stocked.

Maintain cleanliness and working order of floor drains.

Clean and polish service elevator interiors, including walls and door tracks.

Perform scheduled cleaning of ventilation hoods, vents, windows, and air circulation tiles in dining locations.

Move equipment as needed to clean behind and underneath, according to a rotational schedule.

Handle chemicals safely and in compliance with OSHA standards and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

Maintain organized, clean Environmental Services (ES) closets and storage areas.

Assist in biohazard cleanup procedures as trained.

Report vandalism, maintenance needs, or safety hazards promptly.

Keep trash cans, wet floor signs, and all equipment clean.

Dusting of horizontal and catch surfaces.

Prepare items for pick-up by Facilities Management for cleaning according to schedule.

Maintain cleaning supply inventory and follow procedures for internal acquisition of restock.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to OSHA, EPA, and College regulations.

Train new staff or student workers in proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

One year of custodial experience preferred

Valid U.S. driver's license is preferred

OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Certification (preferred) or ability to obtain upon hire

Physical Demands

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Regularly walk, climb stairs/ladders, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

Frequently use hands to grasp, move, or hold objects.

Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds

Occasionally push and pull equipment or carts weighing up to 50 pounds.

Stand for long periods of time

VISION REQUIREMENTS

To successfully perform this position, individuals must possess the following:

Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.

Adjustable focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, and temperature fluctuations.

Requires adherence to all safety protocols to minimize risks.
