About the Role
A private family in Newport, RI (02840), is seeking a seasonal live-out Sous Chef / Kitchen Assistant to support their culinary needs throughout the summer season. This role involves assisting the Head Chef with meal preparation, maintaining kitchen organization, and ensuring seamless food service for the household. Responsibilities
Assist the Head Chef with daily meal preparation, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Handle ingredient preparation, and food plating.
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen, including dishwashing and sanitization.
Assist with inventory management, grocery shopping, and vendor coordination.
Prepare and execute family-style and plated meals as directed.
Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and household standards.
Provide kitchen support for special events and family gatherings.
Work closely with other household staff to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
Culinary training or experience in a private home, high-end restaurant, or catering.
Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food prep, and safety protocols.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-service environment.
Professional, discreet, and adaptable to the family's preferences and dietary needs.
Availability to work weekends and flexible hours as needed.
Local candidates preferred, as this is a live-out position.
