Mission Title: Eastern Prom Gelato Truck Server

Status: 10-40 hours a week (your preference), for summer 2025.

Location: Gelato Truck on Eastern Prom in Portland

Target Pay: $15.50-17+/hr + tips (negotiable)

Do you love gelato or coffee? Are you outgoing? Do you enjoy connecting with customers and exceeding their expectations? Read on. We're seeking team members to offer gelato samples and recommendations and scoop dishes at our Gelato Truck. The Truck server typically runs the Truck for the whole day, including driving it to the Prom, setting it up, serving, and driving it back at the end of the day. The Truck's overnight home base is in Portland.

A typical shift will run from around 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. by the time you return it for the night. (Night hours will pull back somewhat as the sunsets earlier later in summer.) We welcome people who want to work any number of days per week -- even just 1 or 2 days! You typically work solo, and have a direct view of Casco Bay all shift.

We also will be opening a fixed-location Gelato Trailer, initially in South Portland, this summer; please note if you are interested in a mix of both shifts.

Minimum requirements:

- Must have a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and be comfortable driving the Gelato Truck.

- One year of customer service experience preferred, but not required. A desire to work diligently in a fast-paced environment and unshakable attention to customers' needs is what we seek most.

- Be kind at all times. Show poise, presence, and professionalism.

- Since you'll operate the Truck solo, you must be comfortable working independently and troubleshooting when something goes wrong.

- Being coachable is absolutely required.

- Must be a warm, friendly, and confident communicator.

- 18+ years due to vehicle requirements.

Skills/abilities required:

- Desire to scoop dishes, cones, and pints of the highest quality gelato and sorbetto with attention to detail.

- Ability to communicate calmly in a fast-paced environment.

- Devotion to delighting customers with engaged hospitality.

- Fully participation in the theater of our work, understanding how your actions and appearance "on stage" contribute to the experience of our customers.

- Ability to quickly learn the ways of customer service at Gelato Fiasco.

- People who might be compulsive about cleaning are encouraged to apply.
