PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES OF POSITION

The Grana Server is a member of the Food and Beverage team that assists in ensuring that Langham Hotels guest service and food and beverage standards are met. Hospitable, welcoming and friendly guest services are essential requirements of the position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet guests in an efficient and friendly manner/explain specials/answer any questions/take orders
  • Serve food and beverage per established procedures
  • Upsell additional items (appetizers, desserts, beverages) to all guests
  • Respond appropriately to guests requests; reporting complaints to manager
  • Assist bussers as needed (setting/clearing tables)
  • Provide maximum levels of guest service while maintaining Langham Hotel and Forbes standards
  • Report duty as scheduled by manager according to operating hours with flexibility

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain cleanliness of work area
  • Attend all training sessions as determined by supervisor
  • Assist bartender, busser, and bar back as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area
  • Complete assigned side work
  • Additional duties not mentioned above may also be requested by the supervisor

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY/ EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Must have knowledge of wine, spirits, and food
  • Make minor decisions requiring limited judgment, i.e. task sequencing
  • Must have related previous experience in similar environment
  • React well and remain in control when working with high volume under pressure
  • Attend monthly department meeting and provided trainings
  • TIPS and ServSafe certifications preferred
  • Use oral communication to perform job and to communicate clearly when speaking with guests
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a busy restaurant environment while maintaining service standards
  • Attentive to alcohol service and pacing for guests to prevent overserving guests
  • Demonstrate team playing skills at all times
  • Must be available to work restaurants hours of operation

  • Stand, reach, grasp, lift, and carry up to 30 pounds
