The Bakery at Steel & Rye is an in-house bread-focused bakery which serves both the public (at our Bakery Cafe Counter) and our two restaurants: Steel & Rye in Milton, and Prairie Fire in Brookline. The menu encapsulates a sourdough bread program, laminated pastries and seasonal sweet and savory items. The Bakery is seeking a Pastry person with a minimum of 2 years professional baking experience. Must have a strong attention to detail and believe in a culture of education and teamwork. Our Team cares deeply for the product created and the connection between team-members.

This position is full-time, requiring overnight or early morning hours. Must have reliable transportation to Milton. This candidate will complete training inall areas of bread, pastry and viennoiserie production while working closely with the Bakery Team, then move on to work independently for the majority of their shifts.

Compensation for this position is based on experience, starting at $20-$23.00 per hour. Benefits include employee discounts and supplemented health care costs.

Job requirements

  • Professional Baking experience of a minimum of 2 years, specifically pastry and viennoiserie production.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently for majority of each shift
  • Work in a clean and organized manner
  • Maintain allfood safety and sanitationstandards.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Use and maintain professional baking equipment.
  • Availability for overnight and early morning baking shifts weekdays and weekends (regular hours TBD)
