At Chez TJ, we are a Michelin starred contemporary French restaurant located in a historic Victorian home in downtown Mountain View. We are a tight-knit team looking for our newest attentive, diligent, talented member to work with our highly skilled pastry team to produce beautiful pastries, breads, and plated desserts in a from-scratch kitchen.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare and cook food according to recipes, follow quality and presentation standards in accordance with food prep checklists.

Efficiently complete Opening and Closing procedures to setup and breakdown workstation, constantly oversee sanitation of pastry station throughout shift.

Ensure all requisitions are received and processed properly.

Follow directions given by Pastry Chef

OTHER

Follow all company policies and procedures, including safety and security; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to managers; complete safety training and certifications.

Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene procedures. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.

QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge and experience with basic pastry techniques.

Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, courtesy, and work with a minimum amount of supervision.

Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once and to accurately follow established recipe and technique guidelines.

Ability to adequately physically perform the duties of this job: the employee is regularly required to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.

Punctuality and reliable attendance.

Ability to effectively communicate with guests, co-workers and management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Previous Pastry Cook experience is preferred, though any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill and ability will also be considered. Special consideration for individuals with previous Michelin starred experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Food Handler Card
