The principal function of the CEI Groundskeeper is to maintain the campus landscaping, landscaping equipment, and snow removal. The work is performed under the general supervision of the maintenance foreman. The principal duties are performed in an outdoor environment, sometimes performing physically demanding duties and dealing with adverse weather conditions.

- Mowing, trimming, sprinkler repair, application (or oversight of) weed control products, and fertilizer
- Landscape planning, layout, and design
- Planting, trimming, and maintaining the general health of trees and shrubs.
- Planting and maintaining flower beds
- Maintaining landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, tillers)
- Provide direction to seasonal help
- Remove snow and ice from campus walkways using both manual and motorized (broom/plow, snow blower) equipment
- Provide direction for snow removal contracted services such as parking lots
- Maintain snow removal equipment
- Assist the Maintenance team with interior and exterior facility maintenance
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned

- Snow removal experience
- Valid Idaho driver's license to operate CEI vehicles
- Ability to operate groundskeeping and snow removal tools and equipment
- Knowledge of basic groundskeeping methods:
- Mowing schedules
- Watering and planting schedules
- Regional selection and maintenance of plants and trees
- Application of treatments for weeds and fertilizers
- Knowledge of safety procedures when working with equipment and chemicals
- Knowledge of correct lifting methods
- Ability to safely drive vehicles
- Ability to lift equipment and supplies (90 pounds maximum)
- Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesnt sponsor H-1B Visas)
- High school diploma or GED equivalency
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
This position involves lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 90 pounds, bending, stooping, and climbing ladders. Incumbents may work in all weather conditions and move in and around confined spaces. Work may be required in remote and rugged terrain.
On-site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.
Background Investigations:
Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks
