Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Cook in the Cole's Place program at Behavioral Health Network!

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Opportunity House programs with the following:

  • Adhering to kitchen compliance standards set by the Department of Public Health
  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary food preparation environment.
  • Ordering food, planning menus, and preparing nutritious and healthy meals for the individuals served using clear and appropriate communication to all parties.
  • Transporting food to other sites, as needed.
  • Maintaining their ServSafe certification.
  • Learning how to work independently, manage a food budget, do menu planning, and maintain a kitchen to DPH standards and regulations.

Who are we?

Cole's Place is a 40-bed residential program located in Springfield, MA, for men ages 18+ in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. The diverse experienced team at Cole's Place provides a variety of services including individual and group counseling, individualized treatments plans, and medical and mental health referrals, among others. Our goal is to provide a safe and sober living environment to allow residents to work together in an atmosphere of recovery.

What are we looking for in a Cook?

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (required).
  • Food preparation experience in a program (preferred).
  • ServSafe certification (preferred, but can also receive through BHN employment).
  • Valid Driver's License (required).
  • Vehicle for use during all working hours should be registered and inspected in accordance with 540 CMR 4.00 (preferred).
  • Commitment to client empowerment and growth, human rights, and community integration.
  • Familiarity with internet, word processing and email systems (required).
  • Ability to lift 40+ lbs (required).
