Under supervision, Custodians follow a prescribed routine in keeping assigned offices and building spaces clean and orderly. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently with little supervision, take initiative to perform duties, follow written and verbal instructions, be able to work as a team when needed, and be customer service-oriented. Custodians must be able to work a flexible schedule with odd hours, including evenings and weekends.
There are currently three (3) part-time benefited and one (1) part-time unbenefited vacancies for this position, working approximately 15 - 30 hours per week. The eligibility list established for this recruitment may be used to feel these, and other vacancies for this classification, so apply now!
OTHER REQUIREMENTS Candidates must possess a Class C California driver license and an acceptable driving record. An acceptable driving record is one that has three (3) or fewer DMV points issued within the past five (5) years, and no more than one (1) DUI within the past ten (10) years.
May be required to work overtime and weekends.
KNOWLEDGE OF Methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial work; customer service techniques and principles.
ABILITY TO Understand and effectively carry out simple oral and written directions; get along well with others; work night and odd shifts as required; commit to providing quality customer service.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Sweep, scrub, strip, wax, and polish floors;
- Clean rugs and carpets;
- Dust and polish woodwork and furniture;
- Empty and clean waste and recycle receptacles;
- Clean lavatories and polish metalwork;
- Wash windows and walls;
- Assist in moving and arranging office furniture and equipment;
- Maintain stock of janitorial supplies;
- Replenish supplies;
- Turn off lights;
- Close and lock doors and windows;
- Collect and dispose of debris;
- Perform high and low dusting;
- Identify and report maintenance issues to appropriate personnel; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned
