DEFINITION
Under direct supervision, performs general maintenance, laboring, custodian duties, cleaning of buildings and facilities and all grounds areas including trash stations; performs related work as assigned.

Essential Job Functions Perform laboring, and custodian duties. Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, striping, polishing and waxing floors; carpet cleaning and dusting; empties and cleans waste receptacles and recycling containers; cleans hallways, restrooms, offices, lobbies, and vehicles; assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment; polishing furniture, equipment, and metal work; washing walls; cleaning windows, blinds, cabinets, and wood work; refills lavatory supply dispensers; replace light bulbs and tubes; removes graffiti from interior and exterior of vehicles, restrooms, and other surfaces; rakes, sweeps and removes trash and litter from all grounds areas including but not limited to trash stations, parking lots, sidewalks, streets, and lawns; removes bulky items; sweeps, shovels, and cleans trash bin areas including washing areas around and the exteriors of trash bins; follows other grounds staff to remove trimmings from pruning, mowing and edging work; operate scrubbers, buffers, waxers, blowers, and other light equipment and basic machinery; requisition supplies as needed; observes and report needed repairs to buildings, equipment, and/or vehicles; may pick up and deliver supplies. Performs other related duties as required.
ABILITY TO:

Communicate effectively, follow oral and written instructions

Work on own initiative without close supervision

Learn the operation of light equipment and basic machine shop equipment

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school diploma or GED

Must be a resident of Public Housing for the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles, and in good standing and listed on the lease -OR- registered with HACLA as a Section 3 Worker -OR- eligible to register with HACLA as a Section 3 Worker.

Desired: Demonstrated successful work experience and/or completion of job-readiness training courses

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a Valid California Class C Driver license

EXAMINATION
Applications will be reviewed for relevant experience, education and training. Applications must be detailed and complete for proper evaluation. Only the MOST QUALIFIED APPLICANTS will be invited to the testing process, which may include any combination of oral, written and/or performance examination. Applicants must pass each phase of the testing process with a rate of 70% or higher to be placed on the "Certified List". Generation of a Certified List does not mean that there are any vacant and available positions at this time. The Certified List will be available for not less than 6 consecutive calendar months.

THE EXAMINATION FOR THIS POSITION WILL OCCUR ON June 17, 2025 . If you are invited to the examination process, you will receive an email from ... NO LATER THAN Thursday, June 12, 2025 . This will be your only notice. There will be no changes to the date of the examination.
