NY1535397Custodians needed for Oneida City School District in Oneida, NY.Pay rate is $15.50 per hour.Duration: Part Time, Full Time and SubstitutesMinimum Experience Required: One year of experience in building cleaning or minor maintenance activities.Job Description: Distinguishing Features of the Class:The work involves responsibility for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of a building on an assigned shift. Work is performed under general supervision with some leeway for use of independent judgement in keeping the building up to approved standards of cleanliness and operation. Supervision may be exercised over the work of Cleaners. Does related work as required.Typical Work Activities:-Sweeps, mops, and waxes floors, washes walls, windows, and blackboards, cleans erasers, dust, and performs other cleaning duties;-Cleans and mops lavatories and locker rooms and replaces soap or towels;-Dusts desks, woodwork, furniture, and other equipment;-Makes minor repairs to furniture, electrical fixtures, windows, and window shades, locks, faucets, heating system, and other equipment;-Empties waste baskets, collects and disposes of rubbish;-Assists in the operation of an oil or gas fired low-pressure steam, hot water, or hot air heating system;-Receives, moves, and stores incoming supplies;-Arranges chairs, tables, and other equipment for special use of building;-Performs a variety of errands and related custodial tasks;-May mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake leaves, remove snow and ice from walks and driveways and perform a variety of other groundskeeping tasks as assigned.Full Performance Knowledges, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment, and ability to use them economically and efficiently; Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of building heating equipment; Ability to make minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs and perform a variety of routine maintenance tasks; Ability to understand and carry out simple oral and written directions; Ability to get along well with others; Willingness to perform custodial and other manual tasks; thoroughness; Dependability; Physical condition commensurate with demands of the position.*Full-Time position subject to Civil Service Exam*Interested applicants should apply online at Interested applicants should apply at the Oneida City School District Office, located at 565 Sayles Street Oneida, NY 13421 or via the website:
