VVH Institutional Custodian - Temporary

Overview The Vermont Veterans' Home is currently seeking to hire an Institutional Custodian. This position may include housekeeping and/or laundry job duties. Housekeeping duties are mopping, sweeping, dusting, trash removal, cleaning of living spaces and common areas. Laundry duties are laundering linens and personal clothing, sorting and folding, delivery and pickup of laundry as well as operation of laundry machines.

The hours for this position are 6am to 2:30pm and will include working weekends and holidays.

Who May Apply This position, VVH Institutional Custodian - Temporary (Job Requisition #52645), is open to all State employees and external applicants. This is a temporary position. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week.

Environmental Factors Duties are performed during an assigned shift at the Vermont Veterans' Home. Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition required. Considerable standing, walking, lifting, and carrying of heavy objects may be required. Weekend and evening hours may be required.

Duties are performed in a nursing home environment, including office, common areas and patient care areas. Direct interactions with patients may be extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury. Incumbents must be prepared to drive a vehicle in all types of weather.

Minimum Qualifications No specific education or experience required.

Preferred Qualifications At least one (1) year of experience as a custodian or housekeeper in a health care or other institutional setting.
