Groundskeeper Job Description As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for maintaining the campus grounds through a variety of tasks including grass cutting, trimming, edging, trash removal, recycling, leaf removal, weeding, fertilizing, liming, pruning, mulching, deadheading, and watering. You will plant flowers, shrubs, and trees as needed, and perform topsoil installations, rough and fine grading, and establish lawns from seed and sod. Responsibilities Perform general maintenance of grounds including grass cutting, trimming, edging, trash removal, recycling, leaf removal, weeding, fertilizing, liming, pruning, mulching, deadheading, and watering. Plant flowers, shrubs, and trees as required. Execute topsoil installations, rough and fine grading, and establish lawns from seed and sod. Operate walk-behind power equipment including tractors, lawnmowers, and trimmers. Perform snow removal using snow shovels, snow blowers, and snow vehicles/plows. Install and maintain items such as street signs, poles, parking bumpers, trash containers, landscape ties, snow fences, and other grounds-related items. Erect and dismantle bleachers, chairs, platforms, lecture hall equipment, and other equipment for special events. Essential Skills Proficiency in cleaning and landscaping. Experience in janitorial and housekeeping tasks. Ability to clean parking decks and lots. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newark, New Jersey. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
