Summer Program Kitchen Manager/Cook

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Full Time: 37.5 hours a week
Salary Range:$16.00 per hour DOE
Job Description:
Oversee operation of all food related activities and programs during the Gulf County Summer Program. Responsible for the planning and preparation of cold breakfast, lunch, and snacks for up to 140 school-aged children and staff according to USDA guidelines and assist in preparation of reports required by Florida Department of Agriculture. Overseeing food shipments from vendors by inspecting quality of items in delivery, checking invoices for accuracy, maintaining accurate records relating to food service program. Assist administrative staff in inventory and notify appropriate staff for purchasing food and kitchen supply needs. Ensure appropriate sanitation techniques are applied to all aspects of the food service program.
Work Relationship: Reports to Special Projects Coordinator and Summer Camp Coordinator
Entry Qualifications Required:
Position requires experience managing staff. Must have excellent organizational and communications skills. Minimum ten years of public-school food service management preferred. Some travel may be required; valid Florida Driver License, insurance and reliable transportation required.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Project oversight and supervision of food service operations, staff, and interns.
Assist in maintenance of appropriate paperwork for food service operation.
Will be involved in the selection and oversight of kitchen and food-service interns.
Responsible for timely food service delivery.
Assist in arranging any food preparation for field trips.
Will be responsible for timely completion and submission of weekly inventory and upcoming weeks needs.
Ensure facilities and equipment are maintained and kept in acceptable, safe
location, and that facilities and equipment are clean and in working order.
Coordinate resources and personnel to accomplish desired goals and outcomes.
Adhere to direction given regarding separation of duties for purposes of internal controls.
May perform other duties as necessary and assigned.
Essential Physical Skills:
The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee may be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 50 pounds. The work environment is usually moderately noisy. Work may periodically require the employee to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and or/crawl. The employee may be required to work in outside-weather conditions.
Employment is contingent upon the completion of a drug screen and Level 2 background check without unacceptable findings.
