Under general supervision, to serve as lead worker and participate in the work of a crew involved in the maintenance of City streets, parks, and related areas; to perform more difficult and complex tasks in streets and parks maintenance work; and perform other related work as required. Incumbents whose positions are allocated to this class (Parks Division and Streets Division) are assigned the more difficult and complex tasks. This is the full journey level class in the Public Works series. Incumbents are assigned duties requiring them to perform independently or with minimal supervision. Positions will also typically provide lead supervision to a small crew of other public works employees.
Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience as a Maintenance Worker I with the City of Kingsburg, or meeting the education and experience qualifications of a Maintenance Worker I plus possessing an additional two years of comparable and verifiable experience with another employer for the type of service work involved.
Duties:
Streets Division:
- Leads and assists a crew in the maintenance of City streets, alleys and sidewalks.
- Operates moderately heavy power equipment.
- Ensures that safe operating practices are followed by crew.
- Performs minor maintenance and repair to assigned equipment.
- Assists in estimating materials and time needed for projects.
- Maintains time sheets and records of materials used.
- May also be required to perform job duties typically assigned Maintenance Worker I.
- Other duties as assigned.
Parks Division:
- Assumes responsibility for the maintenance of assigned City parks and their facilities.
- Supervises, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned park personnel.
- Trains and instructs inexperienced personnel.
- Maintains material records and requisitions supplies.
- Keeps all tools and equipment I a clean and safe working condition.
- May also be required to perform job duties typically assigned Maintenance Worker I.
- Other duties as assigned.
