WANTED: TEMPORARY CUSTODIAN This temporary assignment will start in June and last approximately 6 - 8 weeks.

DEPARTMENT: Facilities FUNCTIONAL AREA: (G1) Facilities Support

JOB FAMILY: Temporary Support Staff CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time - Non-exempt - Hourly

HOURS: 1:00p.m. - 6:30p.m. (1/2 hour unpaid break) SHIFT: Days, Mon-Fri - No Benefits

HOURLY WAGE: $15.00 DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: Facilities Coordinator

SUMMARY

The Temporary Custodian works under the supervision of the Facilities Coordinator performing daily custodial and light maintenance duties to ensure facilities are clean and in good working order, providing a safe, positive learning environment for students and staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate or equivalent as determined by the High School Equivalency Test (HiSET).
  • 2+ years of approved work experience in custodial maintenance or related field.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling, and green environment principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate a state vehicle to travel within the assigned service area.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of methods, supplies, and equipment used in cleaning of various types of flooring materials, restrooms, water fountains, walls, glass, etc.
  • Knowledge of methods used to perform high quality routine cleaning and sanitizing of public areas.
  • Knowledge of SDS labeling and policy.
  • Ability to organize and maintain supply room and disbursement of supplies.
  • Physical ability to 40 lbs. and to move about the facility to perform all occupational duties, with or without accommodation.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basic computer software.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations, making decisions, and problem solving.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform basic first aid.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure facilities are kept clean and in good working order.
  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of common areas including drinking fountains, restrooms, windows, floors, door mats, outside sidewalks, and parking areas.
  • Replenish hand towels, toilet tissue, and hand soap.
  • Empty waste cans and sanitize.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Check and respond to emails twice daily.
  • Other duties as defined by administration.
