Summary of Position:

The Sanitation Worker IV works as a member of the sanitation team to clean general plant area, equipment, and removes refuse and leads large cleaning project as required. This is the most senior sanitation worker position with lead responsibilities over complex projects and assignments.

Functions of the Position:

  • Works as a member of the sanitation team to clean the general plant area, equipment, and remove refuse. Uses tools such as brooms, brushes, spray bottles, mops and ringers, squeegees, water guns, air guns, and vacuums.
  • Independently tears down and reassembles critical equipment.
  • Operates machinery including floor scrubbers, high-pressure washers, wash cabinets, cop tanks, walkers, walker stackers, electric pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and both stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
  • Practices safety awareness by maintaining a safe work environment and watching out for coworkers. Trains team members on occupational hazards associated with their duties.
  • Completes log records documenting tasks performed.
  • Leads large cleaning projects such as allergen and kosher cleaning of dry roasters, caustic boils of heat wave and oil roasters, and deep cleaning using Cold Jet. May coordinate and provide technical support for cleaning performed by non-sanitation personnel during the shift.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area, ensuring it is cleaned before the end of the shift.
  • Demonstrates the ability to titrate, communicates issues to the supervisor, and performs corrective actions as needed.
  • Leads sanitation teams in completing tasks independently without direct management oversight.
  • Ensures the manufacturing, distribution, and maintenance of safe and quality food by following current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), allergen and sanitation controls, food defense and fraud protocols, HACCP/FSMA, SQF standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains awareness and documentation of preventive controls necessary for food safety and quality.
  • Reports all food safety and quality issues to management immediately.
  • Collaborates with others, sharing knowledge and skills within the team and across functional areas.
  • Focuses on continuous improvement of technical skills, functional competencies, and leadership development.
  • Complies with all established safety policies and procedures to ensure workplace health and safety.
  • Supports a strong safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting hazards, and conducting safety observations as required.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Knowledge:

  • Minimum of three years of sanitation or equivalent work experience required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Level III Power Equipment License (issued by JBSS).
  • Boom Lift Certification.
  • Skyjack Lift Certification.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Basic math skills.
  • Good manual dexterity and vision.
  • Ability to use industrial-grade cleaners, degreasers, and sanitizers.
  • Proficient in operating Skyjack and Knuckleboom lifts.
  • Skilled in safely using Cold Jet equipment.
  • Capable of independently tearing down and reassembling critical equipment.

  • This position is subject to mandatory overtime based on business needs.
