The Line Cook will be responsible for preparing meals according to our restaurants recipes and standards, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and cooking, with a keen interest in learning new culinary techniques and flavors.

General Duties & Responsibilities

Precisely follow Chama Mama recipes and cooking procedures per the Chama Mama standard

Ensure ingredients are fresh and properly portioned.

Follow food health and safety procedures in accordance with the Department of Health guidelines.

Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure timely preparation and delivery of all meals.

Hold quality control checks by tasting dishes and prepped items before they are served to ensure quality.

Conduct regular checks of kitchen equipment and report any malfunctions to the Kitchen Manager and General Manager

Adjust cooking techniques to accommodate dietary restrictions or customer preferences.

Uphold and maintain Chama Mamas high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, including work surfaces, utensils, and equipment.

Properly store food items at the appropriate temperatures

Manage food inventory and storage and alert the Kitchen Manager or General Manager when stock is low.

Operate kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.

Assist in the training of new kitchen staff.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant, cafe, or hotel

Familiarity with various cooking methods such as grilling, baking, and boiling.

Familiarity with ingredients, different types of equipment and procedures

Excellent time management and multitasking skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and teamwork skills

DOH certificate/ license preferred.

Passion for food and cooking with desire to learn and grow culinary skills.

Strong attention to detail especially regarding food quality, presentation, and kitchen cleanliness

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time.

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds or more.

Ability to lift and carry heavy items such as pots, pans, bulk food items.

Ability to work in a hot or humid environment at certain times.

Ability to frequently move around the kitchen including reaching and bending.
