The Multi-Domain Solutions (MDS) division is seeking a Senior Preventive Maintenance Mechanical Technician who is responsible for leading and executing comprehensive preventive maintenance programs for a wide range of mechanical systems within a complex facility. This role requires advanced mechanical knowledge, strong diagnostic skills, and hands-on experience with equipment such as HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units (AHUs), motors, pumps, piping systems, and building automation systems. The technician plays a critical role in ensuring optimal system performance, minimizing downtime, and extending equipment life through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting efforts.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform and oversee scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry and manufacturer standards.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures in HVAC systems, chillers, AHUs, variable speed drives, cooling towers, and related infrastructure.
Inspect, calibrate, and repair or replace components to maintain operational efficiency and reliability.
Use building automation systems (BAS) to monitor system performance and identify early signs of wear or failure.
Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and facility staff to resolve complex issues and support facility operations.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, findings, and corrective actions using computerized maintenance systems (CMMS).
Recommend and implement improvements to preventive maintenance practices and procedures.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, operational policies, and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior technicians, as needed.
Basic Qualifications
TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a formal training program in automotive repair or a related field.
5+ years of hands-on experience in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles (e.g., automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, forklifts, and buses).
Proficient in diagnosing mechanical faults using tools such as motor analyzers, pressure gauges, and factory manuals.
Skilled in disassembling and overhauling complex vehicle components including engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and alternators.
Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance on a wide range of mechanical systems.
Working knowledge of cooling systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automotive electrical systems.
Ability to interpret technical specifications and schematics.
Demonstrated ability to perform routine maintenance and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with safety assurance practices and regulatory standards for vehicle inspections.
Preferred Qualifications
ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification or equivalent industry credentials.
7+ years of experience maintaining mixed-fleet vehicles, including specialized equipment.
Proven leadership in training or mentoring junior technicians and leading maintenance operations.
Strong track record in project management, including planning and coordinating large-scale maintenance initiatives.
Advanced troubleshooting skills with experience conducting root cause failure analysis.
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and diagnostic software.
Knowledge of energy efficiency strategies and practices in vehicle maintenance.
Exposure to quality control methodologies and continuous improvement processes.
Demonstrated ability to develop or interpret technical specifications for vehicle systems or modifications.
Working knowledge of DOT regulations and other compliance standards for fleet operations.
