Position Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of tasks independently and reports to the House Keeping Supervisor. Employee is free to plan, develop, and organize procedures and methods that are within established guidelines to accomplish the work necessary for the successful fulfillment of the mission. Employee plans and carries out assignments with little supervision and serves as the primary housekeeping associate. Verbal and written guidance is given to incumbent to use the most appropriate and effective means of communications to relay policy and program for room cleanliness and upkeep. Employee is expected to use the most effective means and possess job skills necessary for the position.
- Employee establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all levels of military and governmental officials. Communication techniques and well-developed communication skills are required to establish these relationships. Daily contacts and interpersonal dealing with managers, staff, vendors, and guests.
- Normal work environment involves normal everyday hazards or discomforts typical of offices, meetings, or conference rooms with comfortable levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting, and sound. Employee is subject to duty 24 hours a day. Covering shifts on emergency basis, assisting in cleaning of guest rooms, repairing office items, furniture assembly and trash removal. Must be able to lift 40 lbs., walk at least 1 mile, and climb stairs as necessary for daily duties.
Position Summary:
- Serve as a Housekeeper for the Camp Phillips Cantonment, Kansas Training Center, located in Salina, KS
- Must be available 7 days a week with flexibility of working between 8am to 3pm. Hours worked per week based on occupancy, average 20 hours/week.
- Check room assignments via tablet and understand area of responsibility for the day.
- Strip beds, treat stains and launder linens.
- Routine work includes laundry, dusting, vacuuming, washing windows, scrubbing toilets and showers, removing bed linens, making beds, cleaning light fixtures, cleaning fridge and microwaves, replacing toiletries, restocking in-room coffee bars, etc.
- Log any lost and found items and place them in the proper location ensuring items of high value are placed in the care of a member of upper management.
- Complete maid service rooms followed by check-outs.
- Inspects pillows, blankets, bedspreads, mattress protectors, towels etc. and replaces any that are soiled, stained, or need repair.
- Disinfects all areas before cleaning.
- Stocks cart and empties trash before leaving for the day.
- Stocks extra linen in storerooms and at front desk.
- Reports all maintenance issues to Janitorial/Custodial Supervisor
- Deep cleaning as assigned including but not limited to shampooing carpets, scrubbing baseboards, washing windows, scrubbing walls etc.
- Unboxing and assembly of new items
- Provides vital input and ideas for guest room/property improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- This position is fee funded. Should Fee funds for this position change, furloughs or job loss may occur.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of large-scale housing facility; elementary stock control and inventory methods and of cleaning methods. Ability is required to plan, coordinate and the work professionally with other employees; to estimate cleaning times; to establish and maintain necessary records and inventory control; to establish and maintain working relationships with others; and to effectively communicate orally. Ability to operate at a high level with minimal supervisory presence; ability to deal with multiple customers at one time; ability to interface professionally with customers in a military setting and present oneself in a professional manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred experience housekeeping, customer service, computer, and reporting procedures. Experience valued over education; military familiarity preferred.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
- Ability to pass a KBI Records Check, and to work extended hours as needed. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
