Instructional Aide JOB DESCRIPTION: Assists the teacher in the achievement of teaching objectives while working with individual students, or small groups of students, for the improvement of skills and for increase in learning; assists in maintaining a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which students can benefit fully from the program of instruction and available resource materials. REPORTS TO: The Superintendent/Principal/Teacher TYPES OF DUTIES: -Work with individual students, or small groups of students, to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher. -Assist with administration of certain tests; may score and record results of some achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students. -Operate and care for equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes. -Help students master the use of equipment or instructional material assigned by the teacher. -Distribute and collect workbooks, papers and other materials; check notebooks, correct papers and supervise testing and make-up work, as assigned by the teacher. -Guide independent study, enrichment work and remedial work designed and assigned by the teacher. -Assist with student supervision during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods and field trips. -Help keep bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays up-to-date. -Assist students in the library or media center. -Assist with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud and story telling. -Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with students. -Assist with various routine situations and procedures during such times as set for wash-up, lunch, snack and clean-up. -Alert the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student or group of students. -Serve as a source of informatio
